Biggest Fear in Direct Sales Business

Starting a business could be very challenging and frightening to so many people for many reasons. We all get excited when we are presented with the opportunity and all the money that can be made. However, the biggest fear that I have noticed in so many people especially people interested in joining the direct sales industry is "How do I find Customers".

How Do I Find Customers?

Being an Avon Representative and a freelance makeup artist, I am going to suggest what some other Avon representatives and myself have tried as far as getting new customers. You can always apply them to your business.

  1. Share with everyone everywhere an Avon brochure
  2. Ask for referrals and ask others to share your brochures and materials
  3. Call others about their ads, tell them that you are going to share their ads while you are out there working your business and ask them if they can do the same for you.
  4. Post flyers anywhere (apartment, laundromats)
  5. Set up your Avon website and send a grand opening email to let all your contacts know that  your e-store is ready for business
  6. Advertise on your social media ; post Avon related contents along with your website link 
  7. Leave catalogs with your information in places such as repair shops, beauty shops, doctor's office
  8. Set up a table at a career fair
  9. Wear a button or name tag especially for people who are shy
  10. Fundraising
  11. Let your bank know what your deposit is from
  12. Leave a catalog to the teller or banker who is depositing your money
  13. Hang a brochure or flyer in a public bathroom using the literature bag and add a sticker saying please take me home
  14. Leave a brochure at your neighbor's home with a 10% discount
  15. Tailgating
  16. Wear the products (jewelry, clothes, shoes, skin care....) this is a great way to open up conversation when people give you a compliment.
  17. Always have a notepad to take prospects contact information
  18. Find a hostess to host an Avon party
  19. Take advantage of the Facebook live and make live video showing your products or talking about the opportunity
  20. Keep your Avon business page current with always new information to engage your audience
  21. Practice the power of 3 or 5
  22. Set up a display at the mall, flea market
  23. Advertise in your church bulletin
  24. Call nursing homes and see whether or not they already have an Avon lady
  25. Decals
  26. Follow up on the brochures you give to people and ask for orders
  27. Remind customers of your order submission date
  28. If your company allows it, leave some brochures in the break room
  29. Ask your friends to share the Avon catalog with their colleagues at work
  30. Engage helpers
  31. Ask your realtor or go to different apartments leasing offices and ask them if they can add your flyer to their information packet
  32. Go to garage sales in your area and offer them the Avon popcorn bags stamped with your information
  33. Sell to businesses and offer employees' incentives
  34. Host Christmas parties
  35. Random mailings
  36. Give a catalog to your mail carrier
  37. Offer referral incentives to customers who refer you new cutomers
  38. Offer loyalty cards to your cutomers
  39. Leave personal notes to potential customers
  40. Know your products and be prepared to answer any questions
  41. Be enthusiastic and happy about your business
  42. Share the Avon opportunity with everyone
  43. Host an Avon show before the PTA meeting
  44. Ask your friends and people you know to help you reach a goal
  45. Advertise in Football or music programs
  46. Leave your business cards in bulletin boards
  47. Keep a list a special requests and notify the client when item is on sale; make every customer feel special
  48. Work everyday on some aspects of your business
  49. Offer Avon products to friends and family members for Christmas, birthday, graduation or special events gifts to introduce them to our products
  50. Ask, ask and ask

Set up your goals, write plans and work the plans to achieve your goals. Remember to stay consistent and positive.
